Often considered the greatest rock album ever released and certainly one of the most influential, Pet Sounds was underappreciated in the US when it was first released in 1966, despite hitting number two on the UK chart. Eventually Pet Sounds did go on to sell over five million copies in the US and has become one of the most revered of all Beach Boys albums, a landmark recognized both for its groundbreaking production and its music.
