The Galilei Consort presents this solemn Mass specially composed by Giovanni Rovetta to celebrate the birth of Louis XIV. The work, never sung again since its first performance, was reconstructed by the consort's leader Benjamin Chénier and recorded live in December 2015 at the Chapelle Royale at Versailles for the tercentenary of the death of Louis XIV. It is grandiose and typically Venetian, with all the splendour appropriate to the spirit of Venice. The Galilei Consort is principally dedicated to the reconstruction of musical practices and works of 17th century Italy that emerged from the humanist movement.
