Dallas-based noirgaze duo They Say The Wind Made Them Crazy creates deeply experimental, avant-garde folk music with wordless vocals, distortion, drone, nerve rattling low end, classical guitar and storytelling segments. The band consists of guitarist and bassist Gregg Prickett and Sarah Ruth Alexander, who sings and plays everything from hammered dulcimer and harmonium to recorder and bells. This debut album, recorded live in the studio, is a collection of masterfully executed compositions that are dense, dark and emotional.
"Our goal is to channel the ghosts of our ancestors and our descendants and even our own ghosts through a kind of sonic trepanation every time we perform. Therefore, the production of the album had to reflect our method of performance so all pieces contain varying degrees of improvisation or are pure improvisation; even the few set pieces were composed by improvising and overdubs were used only when deemed absolutely necessary on a few tracks."
