Husband and wife duo of American pianist Arthur Greene and Ukrainian violinist Solomia Soroka honour Yevhen Stankovych, one of Ukraine's leading contemporary composers, with this album consisting almost entirely of world premieres.The works cover a wide range of emotions, from wild highland dances that distantly recall Szymanowski to the plangent, lyrical lament of Maydan Fresco, protesting the deaths of demonstrators in Maydan Square in 2013. Greene and Soroka consulted with Stankovych on the preparation of the programme, giving their interpretations a rare authenticity.
