Dutch composer and performer Joep Beving is a towering figure in the streaming world and in real life too, thanks to his height approaching seven feet tall, his wild hair and flowing beard. One of the most listened-to living pianists in the world, his debut album Solipsism has been streamed 60 million times since Beving released it independently in 2015. His first collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon, Prehension is the natural successor to Solipsism, carrying forward the musical and philosophical themes he identifies in his compositions.
