This album, featuring music by Mendelssohn, Richard Strauss, John Adams, and Kevin Malone, was released in order to raise both funds for and awareness of neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. There is a personal connection between the performers, composers, and this cause: clarinetist Elizabeth Jordan and basset horn player Lynsey Marsh both lost family members to these conditions, and each of the four composers battled with related illnesses. In partnership with the Northern Chamber Orchestra, Mind Music presents skillful performances with a moving message.
