"Four Stars ... Kari Kriiku's playing ... is a delight ..."
- BBC Music Magazine

"Five Stars ... Brahm's vocal lines are given a powerful, burnished-sounding performance here by baritone Michael Nagy, Glanert's orchestration is dark, intriguing and entirely idiomatic ... conducted by Olari Elts, the Helsinki Philharmonic packs a sense of epic scale ..."
- The Guardian

On this fascinating programme, Estonian conductor Olari Elts and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra showcase Luciano Berio’s iconic adaptation of Brahms’s Clarinet Sonata No. 1, combined with Detlev Glanert’s recent arrangement of Brahms’s late vocal masterpiece Four Serious Songs. Also included is Glanert’s original orchestral work Weites Land, written in the spirit of Brahms. The orchestra is joined here by award-winning clarinetist Kari Kriikku and German baritone Michael Nagy.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
