“I thought of my musical material as a set of characters… From the beginning, it has been a process of constantly rewriting, reinventing, and transforming these characters in many different ways—while still maintaining an individual personality for each.”
- Freya Waley-Cohen, composer
The premiere recording of a roaming performance art installation, young British composer Freya Waley-Cohen’s Permutations was commissioned for the 2017 Aldeburgh Festival and explores the relationship between music and architecture. Created in collaboration with architectural designers Andrew Skulina and Finbarr O’Dempsey and her violinist sister Tamsin Waley-Cohen, Permutations is an exciting exploration of sound and space.
