Bristol-based solo electronic producer LTO returns following his 2015 debut EP, which was lavishly praised for its tense and eerie programming, deep sonics and waves of static. Now, with Storybook, LTO provides access to the beating heart within the machine. It is an album not purely of mechanics, but also of human warmth, formed with a colour palette equal parts digital and organic. There is expression and articulation, delicateness of performance, voices both natural and treated, piano and brass, all deftly placed about a canvas of electronic fabrics. While LTO as a solo producer retains elements of darkness and beguiling sound design, on Storybook he lets in the light.
