“Mk Ii and Inhale are gorgeous, McCallum’s chiming guitars underpinned by Spaven’s signature broken-beat drumming to create a very fresh, contemporary sound picture. Lushly romantic as it is, it’s romance with a somewhat bleak northern aspect, in the best ‘ECM’ sense.”
- Peter Jones, London Jazz News
Stuart McCallum is a Manchester guitarist best known for his work in the Cinematic Orchestra. His introspective 2015 release City was well-received by critics and he follows it up here with City Live, revisiting many of the same tunes and realizing them in a live context.
