“[Laitman and Mason] spin one of the best-known pieces of literature into a whole new form adding sensible and sensitive dimensions that shed new light on the story.”
- The Denver Post
Opera Colorado and conductor Ari Pelto, with soloists Laura Claycomb, Dominic Armstrong, and Malcolm Mackenzie and others, present the live premiere recording of The Scarlet Letter by rising star composer Lori Laitman and librettist David Mason. Based on the novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne, this is a moving, tonal exploration of the classic story of a Puritan community and their treatment of a woman who has a child out of wedlock.
