This release from Alpha Classics sees French soprano Chantal Santon-Jeffery explore the rich repertoire of the notorious composer of the Italian Baroque, Alessandro Stradella. Often remembered for his swashbuckling escapades, Stradella also wrote emotionally complex and musically stunning works for women characters which Santon-Jeffery captures on this release. Featuring works telling the stories of figures such as Salome, Ariadne, Pelagia, and Susanna, Santon-Jeffery's sensitive interpretations are ably supported by the Galilei Consort and conductor Benjamin Chénier.
