Composer and pianist Fumiko Miyachi presents Transitional Metal a set of seven compositions, many of which are inspired by the periodic table. These pieces, for piano duo, piano solo, chamber ensemble and brass band are crisp, neat and efficient with rhythmic drive and clarity of texture. Her forward-looking playing and compositional voice are on full display in this excellent contemporary classical music release.
