The Bay Window from veteran French jazz ensemble Kartet includes a radical reworking of Thelonious Monk’s 1958 classic Misterioso with a trancey, moonlit dream logic. The whole album, recorded and mixed in Paris, is a sensuous deep listening experience with a unique weave of forms and colours; prepared piano meshes with sinuous alto sax lines anchored by complex timekeeping.
