"... shows Hawkins at his creative best with the warm full bodied tone that was his trademark ... a relaxed but soulful set of tunes that are just slightly different than some of the more expected standards ... warm, inviting, classic old school that takes one back to the simple elegance of swing done right. An essential for any serious jazz library."
- CriticalJazz.com

"... featuring some of the finest fledgling talents of the era. Hawkins masterfully wends his way through a set of slightly off-the-beaten-path standards ... Hawkins's sophisticated stylings, as always, are a sheer delight ... if you’re looking for the perfect CD to pop in while curled up fireside with your sweetie on a chilly evening, this may well be it."

The title of this 1961 album by Coleman Hawkins is a tip-off to the music contained within, a programme of laid back material including the classic Just A Gigolo. Guitarist Kenny Burrell joins the legendary tenor saxophonist in this quintet setting, also featuring Ronnell Bright on piano, Ron Carter on bass and drummer Andrew Cyrille.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
