One of Lee Morgan's classics, Candy is a warm standards album completed in 1958 and released to great acclaim. Recorded when Morgan was only 19, his playing was still imbued with youthful enthusiasm, but he was also synthesizing his influences into an original sound of his own. Sonny Clark has been singled out for his piano work here; the other musicians backing Morgan are Doug Watkins on bass and Art Taylor on drums.
