Digital Booklet
"Four Stars ... hot stuff at the local parish ... the idea of presenting music designed to attract 17th century congregations at a local level is strong ... (the execution) is excellent." - Classic FM "... not only is this music lovely, but the performers are adept at drawing out its affects, shaping pieces with exciting ornaments and varied dynamics ... Clare Wilkinson sounds wonderful ... her voice is very supple and so the ornaments come out easily." - American Record Guide The 17th century saw a tremendous outpouring of sacred works for small groups of singers and instrumentalists; the Gonzaga Band faithfully recreates a smattering of that music on this album full of world premieres. During Vespers, it became common to alternate the obligatory psalms with a number of extra-liturgical instrumental pieces and this programme follows the same structure: psalms by Banchieri, Finetti, Petrobelli and Monferrato are complemented and framed by a variety of joyous instrumental works by Tarditi, Cima, Piccinini, Frescobaldi and others.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
