"Rose Petals has to be the prettiest song for Jarrett’s solo alone ... Diatribe is no pleasant stroll through the park. Redman really lets it fly here and the rest of the quartet are right behind him ... definitely worth checking out."

Keith Jarrett and his American Quartet recorded this album of originals in late 1975 at the same sessions that resulted in Jarrett's album Mysteries. The quartet, comprising Dewey Redman on tenor sax, Charlie Haden on double bass and Paul Motian on drums, is joined here by percussionist Guilherme Franco.
