Dances and Canons is the debut ECM recording from composer Kate Moore and Dutch pianist Saskia Lankhoorn, regular collaborators since 2003. Moore, although born in England, grew up in Australia, which left a strong impression on her creative imagination, apparent through the natural soundscapes transmuted in her music of hypnotically-swarming pulse patterns and shifting, layered planes of sound. As well as compositions for solo piano, the programme includes challenging pieces for two pianos, four pianos and multiple pianos.
