Digital Booklet
"An album of touching melancholy, haunting beauty and often completely unexpected flights of improvisational fancy from a quartet of simpatico players ..." - All About Jazz "... a session replete with beautiful sounds ... Langeland’s delicately lucid vocal tones ... for music inspired by the life of forests and so rooted in traditional folk forms, Langeland’s themes are often invitingly modern sounding, too." - The Guardian The Half-Finished Heaven is an ambitious album from Sinikka Langeland, the kantele player, singer and composer who hails from Finnskogen, southeastern Norway’s “Forest of the Finns.” The music she has written for her ensemble here touches on her “whole scale of expression,” as she puts it. Langeland’s highly original and self-contained oeuvre is informed, in changing degree, by folk traditions of Norway and Finland, as well as classical and contemporary music and improvisation from jazz and other sources. Much of Sinikka’s work addresses the natural world and our place in it; on this recording she develops music expressing “the mystery and joy of everyday encounters with animals in the forest." Each of her gifted bandmates adds his own range of colours to the music.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
