"... a well-planned CD, with music flowing comfortably from one track to the next. The Flautadors play with poise and precision on a set of renaissance recorders ..."
- Early Music Review
The award-winning Flautadors Recorder Quartet, the UK's leading recorder ensemble, provides a fascinating glimpse into courtly life during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I with this collection of music from Elizabethan England. The programme features Fantasias by William Byrd, Anthony Holborne and Alfonso Ferrabosco II, the beautiful Lachrymæ pavane by John Dowland and lively dance music by Thomas Morley alongside lesser known composers Elway Bevin and Hugh Aston, all performed on a renaissance consort of recorders based on 16th century instruments.
