On this debut recording of works by British composer Luke Whitlock, pianist Duncan Honeybourne performs solo piano repertoire ranging from Whitlock's survey of 18th century Suite form to two picture pieces and a lively, witty and sparkling waltz. Honeybourne is also joined by flutist Anna Stokes, pianist Wai-Yin Lee, clarinetist James Meldrum and bassoonist Vicky Crowell on two chamber pieces that complete the programme. Whitlock's music is firmly rooted in traditional harmonies and tonal bases, both lyrical and expressive, definitively neo-Romantic and of appeal to a wide audience.
