"Beautiful playing for what became a fine conductor’s epitaph … this is an essential disc for admirers Hans Vonk. The performances, beautifully played and vividly recorded, are marked by Vonk’s characteristic qualities of fine balancing of sound, with clear textures and a firm control of structure ..."
- Gramophone
Recorded in August 2003, exactly a year before his death, this album marks Dutch conductor Hans Vonk's last sessions with the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra. The all-Brahms programme also highlights the talent of Swiss mezzo-soprano Yvonne Naef and the Male Chorus of the Netherlands Radio Choir.
