"... Kraggerud has provided (his) players with some very attractive repertoire and they clearly respond with enthusiasm, producing performances that are precise, alert and expressive." - Gramophone "The music is tuneful and appealing and there’s no doubting the love and dedication the soloist and his orchestra have for Grieg’s work. Kraggerud’s performances are magnificent and his bright, clean tone always shines through. When required, he also shows considerable virtuosity and nimble finger work in the faster passages ... this is music making of the very highest order. The quality of the recording is exceptional. Balance between soloist and orchestra is excellent and the sound has an appealing, natural warmth ... a magnificent disc ..." - MusicWeb International Grieg is one of the world’s best known composers, but his three Violin Sonatas are a relatively unfamiliar part of his output, despite being among his own favourite pieces. Since Grieg never wrote a violin concerto, leading Norwegian violinist Henning Kraggerud has taken up the challenge of creating three new concertos from the sonatas for violin and piano. These orchestrations are world premiere recordings.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
