The music of Greek-Canadian composer Christos Hatzis is featured on this release which presents his two flute concertos, Departures and Overscript. Performed by the excellent Patrick Gallois with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra and conductor Alexandre Myrat, they are two very different pieces: Departures is thoroughly original in its quicksilver movement and quirky turns, while Overscript is a cunning rewriting of J.S. Bach's Flute Concerto in G Minor that subverts and reworks the Baroque piece.
