The Lutosławski Quartet has earned an international reputation for its performances of Polish music from the 20th and 21st centuries, exemplified by this second volume of Grażyna Bacewicz’s complete string quartets, considered some of the most significant contributions to the genre. Among the pieces on the programme is the award-winning String Quartet No. 4, one of Bacewicz’s most performed works, perfectly balancing formal complexity, approachable themes and harmonic sophistication.
