"Four Stars ... the LPO acquits itself well and climaxes possess all the fizz and firepower one could want."
- BBC Music Magazine

"Album of the Week ... the LPO and conductor Jurowski capture the emotions running deep within the music ... an emotional roller coaster through the depths of despair to a form of musical redemption, with the LPO expertly guiding us through."
- Classic FM

"Recording of the Month ... both performances exemplify what makes Jurowski’s approach to Tchaikovsky so special ... the playing throughout is marked by a oneness with Jurowski’s vision and, it goes without saying, a now well-established empathy between the players and their principal conductor."
- Gramophone

Conductor Vladimir Jurowski continues his journey through Tchaikovsky’s six symphonies, leading the London Philharmonic Orchestra on these live recordings from concerts presented in March and May 2011. Both the Fourth and Fifth symphonies juxtapose some of Tchaikovsky’s most beautiful and graceful melodies with music of intense power, haunted by a dark force, admirably captured by the musicians, conductor and by this superb recording.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
