Digital Booklet
"The trademarks of what we can by now call the Gustavsen sound are intact: minimalism, iciness, patience, but the inclusion of Brunborg adds a populist, soulful touch ... it’s all beautiful. Tord Gustavsen is now five for five." - JazzTimes.com "... exceptional ... the overall ambiance of The Well is one of meticulous beauty, where interpretive freedom abounds, but not in an unfettered, stream-of-consciousness fashion ... a quartet that appreciates the value of every note, communicates on an increasingly profound level and understands the tremendous power of quietude and decay ... both boldly beautiful and dramatic ..." - All About Jazz Two years after the album Restored, Returned introduced this lineup and with extensive touring behind them, the four musicians of the Tord Gustavsen Quartet really blossom as a band on The Well in a programme of original tunes by Gustavsen. Sax player Tore Brunborg is given an important voice here, his melodic lines combining bluesy sonority and Nordic cry. Gently but effectively propelled by the subtle pulses of drummer Jarle Vespestad and bassist Mats Eilertsen, Gustavsen’s gospel-tinged, unhurried piano playing displays a characteristic warmth and tenderness.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
