Digital Booklet
"Four Stars ... as with most Stenson albums, Indicum repays repeated listens." - The Guardian "I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful disc and I know it’s never going to be found far from my CD player." - MusicWeb International "A new recording by Stenson is a significant event. A Stenson album is also an organic whole. He gets to that whole by assembling diverse starting points and then allowing their explorations to flow into his poetic, austere aesthetic world." - JazzTimes.com "... Indicum's broad yet unified programme runs the gamut ... it's Indicum's three free improvisations that truly demonstrate this trio's greatest strengths ... sublimely stunning ... combines ethereal melodism with gentle grounding to create music that possesses and moves both soul and spirit, head and heart." - All About Jazz Wide ranging repertoire has become a hallmark of pianist Bobo Stenson's albums and this recording is no exception, spanning as it does free playing, a piece by Danish composer Carl Nielsen, tunes by Bill Evans and George Russell, a Norwegian hymn, a contemporary work by Norwegian classical composer Ola Gjeilo, a protest song by Wolf Biermann and more. But it’s not just the eclecticism that is striking: Stenson and his bandmates take these far-flung sources and make organic, breathing music out of them, underlining the balance of energies in this particular trio: clear-edged lyrical piano playing, rootedness and keen choice of notes from the bass and detailed, textural drumming.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
