The National Brass Ensemble, comprised of 26 of the finest brass players from major orchestras across the US, presents 15 pieces from Gabrieli's highly influential Sacrae Symphoniae, arranged for the group by San Francisco Symphony trombonist Tim Higgins. Completing the programme on this five star (Audiophile Audition) album is the debut of the short Music for Brass by celebrated film composer John Williams. The inspiration for the recording comes from a historic, Grammy-winning release, The Antiphonal Music of Gabrieli, long admired as the definitive modern performance of Gabrieli’s works.
