A prelude to the vast enterprise represented by the release of the five complete Books of Pièces de Viole by Marin Marais, this anthology from gambist François Joubert-Caillet and his ensemble L'Achéron presents some of the most famous pieces that illustrious composer and gambist Marais wrote for the delight of the Sun King’s private concerts. As director of L’Achéron, the award winning Joubert-Caillet appears in various formations, in particular the consort of viols. L’Achéron brings together a young generation of musicians from the four corners of the world, united around a shared vision: to rethink the accepted tenets of ancient music interpretation while making it more comprehensible for today’s public.
