Digital Booklet
"Fine performances and a composer who never disappoints ..." - Gramophone "Five Stars ... If you’re looking for orchestral music that’s dramatic, harmonically lucid, gloriously colourful, exuberant and powerfully immediate, this disc is for you ... Lindberg is clearly one of the most significant of several major living Finnish composers. Throughout this stunningly performed and recorded disc, Lindberg shines as one of the most brilliant orchestrators of symphonic music of our time." - Audiophile Audition Magnus Lindberg is considered one of the most important voices in contemporary European classical music. This recording includes orchestral works written during and after his composer-in-residence years with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, between 2009 and 2012. Finnish cellist Anssi Karttunen is the featured soloist on the world premiere of the Cello Concerto No. 2, performed with the Finnish Radio Orchestra under Hannu Lintu. Al largo, an extensive piece running over 20 minutes long, was written for and dedicated to the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Despite its title, Lindberg himself considers it as the fastest music he has ever written. The programme concludes with another premiere, Era, described as a tone poem even though it has no narrative content.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
