Digital Booklet
"... (the Rasmussen) unleashes ferocious trills and flutters from the recorder in a pleasing subversion of the instrument's dulcet reputation ..." - BBC Music Magazine "Superbly recorded ... oozes affection for Axel Borup-Jørgensen ... a wonderful snapshot of Nordic contemporary music in the five world premiere pieces composed in his honour. Topped by Michala Petri’s virtuosity, no fan of modern music and the crisp transparency of this ‘northern sound' should hesitate in adding it to their collection." - MusicWeb International Nordic Sound was conceived as a musical memorial to the late Danish modern master, Axel Borup-Jørgensen, a seminal figure in contemporary Danish musical life and deserving of much wider recognition. Five leading Danish and Faroese composers were invited to write a recorder concerto for Michala Petri and string orchestra. The choice of the recorder was both an outgrowth of Borup-Jørgensen’s decades-long engagement with the instrument and as a personal tribute from Petri, who became a “second daughter” to the composer. Rather than writing music in “Axel’s style,” the composers were encouraged to reflect upon their own feelings and responses to the man and his music. Following a live radio broadcast of the premieres in November 2014, Petri and the Lapland Chamber Orchestra recorded this album under the direction of Clemens Schuldt.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
