Digital Booklet
"... accompanist Roy Howat is a specialist in French music and studied in Paris with Vlado Perlemuter, who worked with Fauré. The prerequisites for an idiomatic recording of the piano parts for these Fauré songs is thus well catered for ... Jared Schwartz, who is a true bass, is in many ways an expressive singer ... in the middle and upper part of his register he is sensitive and nuanced ... to sum up: largely well considered readings ..." - MusicWeb International Pianist Roy Howat accompanies bass Jared Schwartz on the first collection of Fauré’s melodies conceived for a bass voice. This is also the first recording based on the new Peters Edition which eliminates countless errors in older publications. Going beyond the often arbitrary ordering of early editions, the programme draws out connections of poets and poetic themes, some of which restore Fauré’s own original groupings. Schwartz and Howat juxtapose the composer’s most popular songs with some of his lesser known works.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
