Stories for Ocean Shells is the brainchild of Australian composer Kate Moore and American cellist Ashley Bathgate, who have been collaborating since 2009. As the lives of the two artists from opposite corners of the world collide and intertwine in strange and unexpected ways, wordless tales of travel, love, sadness and beauty are told in a cycle of six works for solo cello. Uniquely vivid, contemplative and almost spiritual, the music resulting from this beautiful partnership offers entirely new world views, perspectives and an opportunity for quiet self reflection.

“Being at a similar place in our lives ... we could immediately see where the other was coming from. We’re both rebels from an intense background playing the cello and we both wanted to break out, with the aim to create something new that we could call our own. So this project is about tapping into that vast energy around us."

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
