This album contains remastered historical recordings made between 1922 and 1940 by the Band of the Grenadier Guards conducted by Lieutenant-Colonel George Miller, MVO, MBE. These selections amply testify to the quality of the band under his direction as they present a selection of marches in contrasting styles, along with items from the ensemble's concert repertoire in the years between the World Wars. The title march is a real gem, composed in 1937 and dedicated to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, remembered today as the late Queen Mother. The piece was composed by Adela Verne, considered one of the greatest female pianists of her era.
