"It’s fair to call the soulful country-blues song (Somewhere On A Beach) a sequel to Drunk On A Plane. The ballad details what happens once that plane lands ... includes a shout-along chorus fans are sure to embrace this summer ... seductive guitar riffs and an enticing solo add emotional depth to Bentley’s story ..."
- Taste of Country
Multiplatinum country singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley is joined by special guests Elle King, Maren Morris, Natalie Hemby and Trombone Shorty on Black, his eighth and most personal album. While the slow smoked grit of Bentley's voice is rooted in country music, he is also aiming for audiences far beyond the boundaries with fresh sonic textures that flourish on the edge of arena rock. The title comes from his wife Cassidy’s maiden name, but this is really a collection of universal songs about the human heart. Bentley explores breakups, hookups, mess-ups and everything in between, shining a light on the things that happen after the sun goes down.
"It’s a relationship album that covers the ups and downs of the journey and ends with some self-realization and evolvement. The song Black helps set all of that in motion at the top of the album by guiding you into the darkness and the shadows of the night."
