Looking for My People is a hybrid of synth pathos and soul shouting; post-apocalyptic, post-punk lounge music from Mattress, the brainchild of Portland's Rex Marshall, who grew up in Las Vegas. The influence of the city is evident here but the lens is warped, cracked, dirty and scraped against the concrete as Alan Vega backs a truck over it. The end results evokes Iggy Pop and Tom Jones mixed with Kraftwerk and Suicide.
