Contemporary Danish composer John Frandsen has become known as a sublime musical interpreter of texts, as demonstrated by the talented artists on this album, a collection of his most evocative solo song cycles. Common to all five cycles is Frandsen's sincere and open approach to the textual expression; from the truly intimate and even erotic to the philosophical and the absurdly silly. The programme showcases four of Scandinavia's most promising young opera singers, notably award-winning Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen and the composer's son, countertenor Morten Grove Frandsen.
