The Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor John Storgårds present a pair of Per Nørgård’s most dramatic works on this recording, their second of two albums devoted to the composer's symphonies. The chaotic and troubled Symphony No. 4, inspired by the Swiss artist Adolf Wölfli is featured along with the fearless Symphony No. 5, in which the composer seems to embrace violent forces of nature. These two pieces typify Nørgård’s inextinguishable desire to explore the marvels of the world and the powers of music.
