Award-winning German guitarist Stephan Schmidt and Basel-based chamber orchestra I TEMPI combine forces on this programme devoted to works by Antoine de Lhoyer, Dvořák and Elgar. The title Authentic is true of every note performed by the young musicians in the group, whether bows are gliding over historical gut strings or their warm, radiant tone comes from modern instruments. Under Gevorg Gharabekyan, the players clearly delight in transcending the boundaries between Baroque and modern ensembles. Schmidt joins in for de Lhoyer’s Guitar Concerto with just as much zest.
