"The band's creativity has manifested itself in the form of 10 unbridled rock tracks, loaded up with roaring blues-rooted riffs and gravelly, expressive vocals ... an emphasis in the band's songwriting on big choruses with soaring backing vocals ..."
- Exclaim!
"... rousing, singalong retro-rock ... could have been blasted here direct from the 1970s: specifically, they evoke mid-period Led Zeppelin and Free ... laden with big, chunky riffs and swaggering anthems tailor made for waving scarves and throwing beer ..."
- The Guardian
White Bear, the second album from British retro blues rockers The Temperance Movement, follows a whirlwind three years which saw the band enjoy widespread critical acclaim and a debut album that peaked at number 12 in England. Sold out shows and appearances at major festivals around the world followed, including being handpicked to open for the Rolling Stones in Europe and North America. For this sophomore release, The Temperance Movement composed a set of energized tracks, ranging from the raucous opening track and first single Three Bulleits to the expansive and ambitious sound of A Pleasant Peace I Feel and the deceptively infectious title track. Phil Campbell's distinctive road worn vocal is again thrust to the foreground, showing exactly why he's considered one of the best singers on the current rock scene.
