The ultra-rare Goodbye to Love from the wondrous and mysterious vocalist Claudia Thompson was released in 1959, the only record the sultry songbird would ever put out. This reissue, an early stereo marvel, was lovingly remastered from the original tapes. Not much is known of Thompson, but her no-nonsense, emotion-soaked singing marvellously carries a collection of standards including Stormy Weather and Body and Soul. With her perfectly tuned, wildly dramatic voice, Thompson has been compared to a female Chet Baker. She is beautifully accompanied here by jazz guitar pioneer Barney Kessel, one of the leading lights of the hard bop movement, who played with Sonny Rollins, Oscar Peterson and Ella Fitzgerald as well as leading his own super-tight group.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
