Digital Booklet
"Four Stars ... the now-or-never concert adrenaline is palpable. There’s unflinching attack in the savage pantomime The Miraculous Mandarin, deadpan wit in the gentler Dance Suite and it’s all delivered with that unnervingly meticulous, steely focus that conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen gets from the Philharmonia ... I was drawn in by the cool ferocity and steadfast virtuosity of these performances." - The Guardian Recorded live in 2011 as part of their critically praised Infernal Dance season, the Philharmonia Orchestra under Esa-Pekka Salonen explore three works by Bartók: the chamber piece Contrasts and orchestral works Dance Suite and The Miraculous Mandarin. Contrasts is one of the composer's most imaginative forays into the world of chamber music and is his only chamber work involving a woodwind instrument, the clarinet, since the piece was commissioned by the "King of Swing" Benny Goodman.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
