"Like ZZ Top and Rush before them, Kiss seem to have finally rediscovered (what made them so great in the first place). And that was their ability to combine sleazy barroom riffs with fist-pumping, stadium-sized choruses, all with an arrogance that brooked no doubt as to the heights of their self-declared brilliance. And so it goes here ... ah, it's good to have them back."
- The Guardian
"... Kiss unleashes ferociously fun Monster ... who's to begrudge Kiss releasing another record about thunder, sex, lightning, outcasts, hell, rock 'n' roll, thunder and sex? It's what established Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and the two other guys who aren't Ace Frehley or Peter Criss (for the record, Tommy Thayer on guitar and Eric Singer on drums) ... Monster is a fantastic dog: protective, loyal, fun to be around but ferocious when it needs to be. It's also mostly dumb as a post, but that doesn't mean it isn't awesome ... focuses on primal riffs, heavy bass lines, simple metaphors, trigger-happy solos, Stanley's delirious wail and Simmons' gruff bark."
- Los Angeles Times
This 2012 release from Kiss broke into the top 10 in at least six countries, notably a number three chart peak in the US. Critics hailed Monster as a return to classic form from the band, a sound that Gene SImmons has compared to Kiss albums Destroyer, Revenge and Sonic Boom. Monster was propelled by two singles, the top 40 rock radio track Hell Or Hallelujah and Long Way Down.
"Listening to the tracks back to back is like sensory overload. Everyone who has heard any of it is completely blown away. Powerful, heavy, melodic and epic. It makes us very proud. You all will be too."
- Paul Stanley
