"... (a) collection of smart, clear-eyed songs ... showcasing the purity of Fogel’s voice and his gift for crafting uncluttered, unhurried arrangements. The material carries an undeniable emotional complexity, avoiding the binary of happy and sad but instead exploring those shades between, the darkness lurking in the light as well as the light breaking through the dark." - PopMatters.com This debut EP from Golden Bloom's frontman Shawn Fogel proves that good art inspires more good art: he wrote these six songs based on books he read by notable authors including Roald Dahl, Nick Hornby, David Benioff and Hermann Hesse. Fogel imposed no rules on himself about genre or topic, drawing on everything from young adult novels to nonfiction. Recorded almost entirely in his home studio and punctuated by the drumming of Jason Hammel, the EP is Fogel’s most adventurous work to date, combining his powerful singing voice and his unique writing voice. Volume 1 will inspire listeners to unplug from life for a while, enjoy some beautiful music and maybe even pick up a book. "I realized that all of the songs I had been writing for Golden Bloom were about me. Writing about something other than myself was incredibly freeing ... (these songs) felt effortlessly written." - Shawn Fogel

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
