Vincenzo Bellini’s penultimate opera, written for Teatro La Fenice, Venice, in 1833. Packed with intrigue, jealousy and revenge, Beatrice di Tenda is a tragic opera that recounts the final months of one of Renaissance history's most fascinating and ill-fated characters. This 1966 set is historic as it offered the legendary Joan Sutherland/Luciano Pavarotti collaboration on record for the first time. The album also marks Josephine Veasey's only commercially recorded Italian role.
