Among the numerous recordings by specialist Dezső Ránki, it includes pieces performed along with clarinetist Kálmán Berkes, the most praised player in Hungary, soloist of the most prestigious local orchestras. This short album contains two set of pieces, originally for solo piano, whose melodies were collected by the composer during travels in multi-ethnic region of Transylvania. Then part of the Hungarian Kingdom, it is inhabited by Romanians and Szeklers, whose rich musical tradition inspired Bartók very much.
