Digital Booklet
With their debut CD, the Pacific Quartet Vienna takes on a musical journey through very different spaces and epochs. The album title is derived from the “Alpine Triptych Becoming – Being – Passing Away” by the painter Giovanni Segantini, which he made for the World Exhibition in Paris, and constitutes the central source of inspiration for the internal structure of this CD recording. Starting with the Prelude for string quartet (1961) by Toshiro Mayuzumi, the ensemble presents one of the “Sun quartets” by Joseph Haydn (D major, Op. 20 No. 4), the String Quartet (1905) and the Six Bagatelles for String Quartet (1911/13) by Anton Webern. Triptychon (2015) by the Swiss composer Martin Derungs is dedicated to the Pacific Quartet Vienna and with its movements “becoming”, “being” and “passing away” directly refers to the influence of Segantini's painting.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
