Christmas in 2021 might not be exactly how any of us anticipated, and that’s exactly the thinking behind Kelly Clarkson‘s new holiday album, When Christmas Comes Around... The global superstar’s ninth studio album, the festive collection features sassy lead single "Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)" and approaches the holiday season from the point of view that it means different things to different people.
Featuring a mix of traditional Christmas songs and original tunes, When Christmas Comes Around… follows Kelly’s previous holiday album, 2013’s Wrapped In Red, and is her first studio album since Meaning Of Life in 2017. The last few years have seen the multi-award-winning singer and presenter appearing as a coach on the American version of The Voice and hosting her own daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, which has received six Emmy Awards to date.
Joining Kelly on When Christmas Comes Around… are Ariana Grande (on "Santa, Can’t You Hear Me"), Chris Stapleton (on "Glow") and Brett Eldredge, whose 2020 duet with Kelly, "Under The Mistletoe", is one of three bonus tracks on the album. Another bonus track, "All I Want For Christmas Is You", is not a version of the Mariah Carey classic, but a remake of the identically named song by Vince Vance & The Valiants, which Kelly recorded last year.
